As many of you know, I’m a huge Disney fan and regularly participate in runDisney races. Every winter I find myself having to run in some of the coldest weather Chicago has to offer. This year was no different- I had the Walt Disney World Marathon the first week in January, which meant I was running all the way through the New Year holiday week. It was cold! Luckily, I’m no stranger to the cold. I run with thermal tights and warm pullovers (often layered). Normally I also run with a baseball hat (because I’m cool like that), but that just doesn’t cut it in the colder weather.

Being a BibRave Pro, I get the chance to test out some awesome gear throughout the season, and when they offered the Buff Hoodie, I couldn’t pass it up! To describe it basically, I’d say it’s like the hood part of your favorite hooded sweatshirt, but so much more. Since none of my running pullovers include a hood or any way to keep my head warm, this was a welcomed addition to my winter running gear collection.
I’m not quite sure I’d classify the Buff Hoodie as running-focused gear item, but it definitely works well for running. It’s made of polyester and wool- both fabrics that perform well with moisture-wicking and keeping your body heat in. The hood itself keeps the wind and cold air out and the neck layer is designed to meet your shirt in order to keep your neck warm, too. Then, there’s a single wool layer you can pull up over your nose to keep your lower face warm. It’s breathable enough that you forget it’s there.
I used this item on a number of occasions— a mix of during runs and also during regular every day use when the weather called for it. It’s versatile and stylish enough to wear around. I’d definitely recommend the Buff Hoodie for anyone who lives in a cold weather climate, and of course, runners too! It definitely has my stamp of approval!
